And so to Bath

Since every weather forecast was saying all day rain, very heavy at times – being a coward – I took the train to Bath.

Well once again the weather forecasts weren’t particularly accurate. Yes it rained a fair bit but not the deluges promised I’m glad to say.

That meant I could go cycle the old Somerset and Dorest Railway. This was closed in the 60s and about 10 years ago made into a cycleway. It’s best features are two tunnels, one is roughly 2.5 k long , thus avoiding the hills that surround Bath.

There’s also a good pub in Midford along the way as well as Midford castle. It’s shaped as the Ace of Clubs in 1775. Nicholas Cage bought it in 2007 for $5 million (about the cost of an average Auckland house;) but sold after a couple of years.
