We All Want to be by the Seaside….

At times the English seaside is lovely, a nostalgic throwback to a certain Victorian look of pebble beaches, amusement piers and fish and chip shops. But then it can be cut in two by clogged dual carriageways. I found that I have difficulty dealing with the noise and rush created by vehicles passing in a never ending stream – even though I’m on a cycle path. So it was matter of getting thru Southampton as quickly as possible after I’d explored parts of Portsmouth and then find the countryside again as I headed to Salisbury.

Salisbury describes itself as a medieval town – I think that’s stretching the truth just a wee bit, but it is nice and not overly crowded with tourists. A quite pleasant place to meander around after the previous two days
