I’d been somewhat nervous about approaching Giverny. I’m a huge fan of Claude Monet and some of my fav paintings are from his time at Giverny. But I also knew that his time and the images/impressions he captured are long gone and consigned to the past. Of course there were Tourist a plenty. You could, of course, buy a copy of one of his works on a mug, a towel, a pillow or may be a T shirt and then eaten in a restaurant just near to his house. I’m not sure how he would have regarded all the fuss.
The funny thing is that around the area are so many places still reminiscent of the past, but not visited by those who just go to Giverny and then leave. Although this particular one was on the tourist trail.
Anyway, apart from that the day was a mixed bag with some “challenging” paths like this one. On the minus side – bumpy and very slow – On the plus side – apples and blackberries galore.
And finally, here’s a shot of my usual noon time stop to dry out the tent and have a baguette to eat.
