There’s been something always lurking in the back of my mind since I decided to head down thru France. I’ve tried to ignore it, but it has been growing and moving to the front of my mind. Paris. As a result I changed my mind this morning and instead of continuing up the coast, I’m headed towards… Paris.
But first I had to experience one of my most heart in mouth moments. Crossing the Seine at Le Harve on this bridge. Note the cycle lane – it’s 1 metre wide and separated from the Trucks, Vans and Cars doing 90+ is by a thin white line. There’s no way I’d cycle that bridge again.
However I made it and carried on, Toward noon I left the cycle route and went into a nearby town in search of a Baguette. As I was searching, I noticed that a set of rather ruinous walls were in the classical Roman Style and amazingly I ended up in a Roman Amphitheatre. (Long story. – basically some archeologists let me into the dig they were doing). Yes, I did find a baguette – a day in France without me would not be complete.
Now I’m camped because the Seine in a wonderfully basic campsite and watched a couple of very plush Canal Cruise boats go by (Yes, I was envious).
