Sometimes you shouldn’t believe other peoples views. I’d heard that the Nantes to Brest Canal was a great bike ride. Well it maybe once you get past Radon – but I didn’t go past. Yes, I gave up and am camping in Radon and tomorrow head to the ancient city of Rennes. Take a look at the photos. Inspiring aren’t they. I’ve just had 80 plus kilometres that looked exactly the same and were gravel or compacted stone. And barely a pub along the way. Okay, so it’s an historic canal, built by Napoleon so it linked the two French ports in case the Brits (pre Brexit) tried to blockade one of them.
So tomorrow I head north to Rennes – along a canal so it’ll probably be the same again! – doh!
