Gorgeous Campground, Haad my tent on a small peninsular of land in a lake. Too bad about the wind and rain during the night and that the temp was a toasty 5 degrees in calm of the morning, Anyway, for the most part I spent the day dodging downpours (sometimes with success) and climbing hills but the countryside was lovely and there was pretty village after pretty village.
Every so often, there’s a sight worth stopping for. I wonder how the pecking order was decided.
No one dared stray out of line as they slowly advanced across the yard.
History is always close at hand. Below is one of Richard the Lionheart’s Castles. Looks strong and defensible, but 6 years after it was built, it was captured. Richard himself makes for interesting reading. Probably not the nicest person you’d hope to meet. Funny how schoolboy history lessons tend to gloss over some details.
